Friday’s Hike: Patterson Hill. September 4, 2026
We first hiked this Hill in November 2023. At the time it was a brand new hike for us on the newly dedicated Kezar Corridor Lands. We hiked it again in February 2025. It’s not quite become a routine hike for us yet and remains something of a novelty.
Map Quest describes the hike as follows:
“Patterson Hill, standing at 291 meters, is a serene summit located in Lovell, Maine. This picturesque hill offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape, making it a perfect spot for hiking and nature enthusiasts. With its gentle slopes and lush greenery, Patterson Hill is an inviting destination for those seeking a peaceful retreat in the great outdoors.”
Here are the directions from Dale to the Patterson Hill Trailhead parking lot: Coordinates for the trailhead are not yet reliably available online
From Denmark: Take 117NE, Left onto Hio Ridge Rd at the flashing light. Turn left onto Mountain Rd. Turn right onto Rte 302, then an immediate left onto Knights Hill Rd. Come into Lovell Village via Knights Hill Road. Go Right onto Rte. 5 North for 1.6 miles. Take a Right onto Old Waterford Rd and follow for 4.5 miles (it turns to dirt after about 2.5 miles). Turn right onto the Dan Charles Rd. (You will see a small trailhead parking lot on the right. go past this) The Patterson Hill Trail parking lot is .6 miles up the Dan Charles Rd. from this lot. (Turn right at the T in the road and the lot is ahead on the right).
Note: Be sure to stay on Old Waterford Rd. where it’s a bit tricky where Shoestring road bears right at a Y in the road. The sign for Shoestring Rd is missing so Dale says he may try to put up a paper plate with DMH on it at that point.
