DMH Fall/Winter Hikes 2026

October Hikes:

October 2 – Easy – Oversett Pond and Mountain (922 ft.), Greenwood, ME. 4.2 mi RT, 597 ft. of elevation gain. RT hiking 2.0 hours. RT driving 3 hrs. (HL – Jeff)

October 9 – Moderate – Mount Potash (2,700 ft.), Kancamagus Hwy, NH. 3.5 mi RT, 1,400 ft. elevation gain. RT hiking 2.5 hours. RT driving 2.5 hours. (HL – Gordon)

October 16  Dual Hikes:

A. Easy The Roost (1,364 ft) Evans Notch, ME – 1.7 mi RT with 514 ft elevation gain.RT hiking 1 hour. RT driving 2 hours. (HL – Jeff)

B. Difficult – East Royce (3,114 ft), Evans Notch, NH – 2.8 mi RT, 1,316 ft  elevation gain.  RT hiking  3.0 hours.  RT driving 2 hours. (HL – Greg)

October 23 – Moderate – Burnt Meadow Mountain (1,575 ft) Brownfield, ME – 2.4 mi RT, 1,100 ft elevation gain. RT hiking time 3 hours. RT driving 1 hour. (HL – Dale)

October 30 – Dual Hikes

A. Moderate  Mount Willard (2,800 ft) Crawford Notch, NH.  3.2 mi RT,  900-foot elevation gain.  RT hiking 2.3. hours. RT driving 3.0 hours. (HL – Polly)  

B. Difficult – Mount Avalon (3,442 ft) Crawford Notch, NH.3.5 mi RT, 1522 ft. elevation gain. RT hiking 3.5 hours. RT driving 3.0 hrs. (HL – Gordon)

November Hikes

November 6 – Easy – Foss Mountain (1,647 ft), Eaton, NH – 0.6 miles RT, 587 ft elevation gain.  RT hiking 0.5 hours.  RT driving 1.5 hours. (HL – Jeff)

November 13 – Moderate  Zealand Falls (2,700 ft.), Zealand Notch, NH  5.6 mi RT, 650 ft. elevation gain, RT hiking 3.5 hrs. RT driving 3.0 hrs. (HL – Gordon)

November 20 – Dual Hikes

A. Easy – Black Cap Mountain (2,369 ft), North Conway, NH – 2.8 mi RT, 669 ft elevation gain.  RT hiking 2.5 hours. RT driving 2 hours. (HL – Polly)

B. Difficult – Kearsarge North (3,268 ft) , North Conway, NH 6.2 mi RT, 2,600 ft elevation gain. RT hiking 7 hrs. RT driving 2 hours. (HL – Greg)

November 27 – No Hike – Thanksgiving Weekend

December Hikes

December 4 – Easy – Bald Pate and Chanukah Potluck (1,150 ft.), South Bridgton ME – 2.5 mi RT, 280 ft. elevation gain. RT hiking 1.5 hours.  RT driving 0.5 hours. (HL – Jacob)

December 11 – Dual Hikes

A. Moderate – Pleasant Mountain SW Ridge to Tipi (2,006 ft), Denmark, ME – 3.4 mi RT, 1,000 ft elevation gain. RT hiking 3 hours. RT driving 0.5 hours. (HL –  Jeff)

 B. Difficult –Pleasant Mountain Traverse SW Ridge to Firewarden’s Trail (2,0096 ft.), Denmark, ME – 4.2 mi RT, 1,206 ft. elevation gain. RT hiking 4 hrs. RT driving 0.5 hrs. (HL – Greg)

December 18 – Easy – Hawk Mountain (1,061 ft), Waterford, ME – 2.8 mi RT,  139 ft elevation gain.  RT hiking time 2 hours.  RT driving 1hr. (HL – Dale)

December 25 – No Hike – Christmas
