Today 11 hikers gathered at the Arethusa trailhead parking lot.
We left the trailhead at 10 am after watching the North Conway Scenic train steam by blowing its horn as we took our group photo.
Hiking today were Jean Murch, David Atchason, Dale Nelson, Jeff Sturgis, Patti Brady, Kathy Huchthausen, Robin Marciello, Jacob Schor, Fred Muratore, Tom Dugas, and Carol and Ray Strozewski joined us later during our ascent bringing our number to 13!
We continued up the trail as a single group that spread out easily along the trail.
We encountered another hiking group of 10 friends visiting from the southern states. We intermingled and chatted with a number of them in a competition to demonstrate our superior northern hospitality. The weather was spectacular ranging around the sixties and the sun shined bright. We arrived the falls at 11:30 am, grabbed comfortable boulders and sat ourselves down to enjoy the view and eat our lunches/snacks.
At high Noon we packed up and returned to the trail. The hike back down starts with an unwelcome back up to the main trail for and then precedes to descend back down to the trailhead. Our return trip took approximately 1-1:15 hrs arriving between 1-1:15 pm.
All arrived in good shape and some continued conversing with our new southern friends. A splendid day over all with very splendid friends.
Just under 900 feet elevation and 4 miles travel.

Trailhead Directions:
From Denmark: Head North on ME-117 N from Denmark into Bridgton. Turn left briefly onto US-302 W (Main Street) in Bridgton, then quickly turn right to stay on ME-117 N (Harrison Road). Follow ME-117 N through Harrison and into Norway. In Norway, turn left onto Greenwood Road. Follow Greenwood Road heading north for several miles as it crosses into Greenwood. Turn left onto Patch Mountain Road, then take an immediate right onto Willis Mills Road. The dirt turn-off for the main parking area (Oversett Pond Lane) will be on your right just past the intersection.
