Our hike leaders for this coming Friday’s hikes up Mt Wardle and Mt Avalon have been switching their roles. As it stands this evening, Wednesday, Polly will lead the group up Mt Avalon and Dale Mt Wardle.
The weather will not be as glorious as it was last week. The current forecast for Crawford Notch is:
“Cloudy to mostly cloudy with a small chance of light daytime rain (around 15%–20%), shifting to mostly cloudy skies and potential light snow showers or flurries late in the evening and overnight.”
Not exactly terrible, but clearly not gkorious.
Forecast for Mount Avalon, New Hampshire, on Friday, October 30, 2026, calls for mostly cloudy skies with a slight chance of light rain or mountain snow showers.
Mount Wardle on Friday, October 30, 2026, calls for partly sunny skies with a high of 30°F, a low of 16°F, an east wind around 3 mph, and a 10% chance of snow.
Looks like summer is over. Dress accordingly.
Meet at the Denmark Church at 8:30 am, as usual or at the Crawford Notch Railroad Depot at approximately 9:40 am give or take.
Hike descriptions for both hikes are posted here: https://denmarkmountainhikers.com/2026/10/24/next-friday-wardle-or-avalon/
